Clear Vision, Bright Future

Since October 2024, the Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission (MESC), Operation Eyesight (OE), and the EssilorLuxottica Foundation have been working together on an initiative to help promote the eye health needs for MESC students. The initiative has five phases:

  • Phase 1: October to December: Vision Screening
  • Phase 2: October to December: Eye Health Education presentations (teachers present)
  • School Presentation of Kîkwâya Kisohkikaskihon
  • Phase 3: January to February: Communicating Results and Consent Collection for exams
  • Phase 4: April 28 - May 2: Optometry Exams
  • Phase 5: May 30 - June 20: Eyeglass Distribution

Each phase will be directed and coordinated by MESC Student Services Coordinators of Inclusive Learning and supported by Coordinators of Student Wellness, Coordinator of Student Wellness Interventions, Wellness Coaches and Speech and Language Pathology Assistants.

If your awâsis (child) received a consent form regarding Operation Eyesight Clinic, please review and return the consent form as soon as possible to ensure they get a FREE vision exam and glasses at our upcoming Operation Eyesight Clinic on April 28 - May 2, 2025.

Ay hay and nanaskômowin for your participation in this initiative. Your awâsisak eye health is important, and we want to ensure they get the care they need.
