Compensation Rate:

$42,762-$52,500

Hours Per Week:

  • 10 hour shifts
  • 4 on 4 off shift rotation
  • Primary hours of work 5pm-3am

Additional Information:

The Security Guard will have specific responsibilities for:

  1. Conduct regular patrols throughout MESC locations.
  2. Watch for and report irregularities 
  3. Patrol assigned areas on foot or in motor vehicles to ensure personnel, building, and equipment security.
  4. Contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
  5. Respond to calls for assistance or respond to building alarm triggers.
  6. Communicate with the O & M team to coordinate entry or walkthrough depending on the alarm situation. 
  7. Generate incident reports and maintain a daily notebook, utilizing provided Chromebook.
  8. Utilize two-way radio and computer applications.
  9. Perform daily equipment checks, baton, flashlight, vest, daily walk around vehicle, ensuring everything is in good condition. 
  10. Adhere to MESC operating policies and procedures.
  11. Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity of data and information.
  12. Maintain positive relationships with the community. 
  13. Follow directions and guidance from the Supervisor.
  14. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • A valid Alberta Security License or the ability to obtain one
  • Alberta High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
  • EMR registration or Standard First Aid Level C CPR
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Must possess and maintain, at minimum, a valid class 5 driver's license. 
  • Must qualify to be insured by MESC’s insurance provider without the Commission being charged an additional premium or surcharge.
  • A willingness to acquire more education and training as needed. 

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required (Maskwacis and area)
  • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods
  • Ability to lift to 20 kg on an occasional basis and operate related equipment.
  • Overtime as required

  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Understanding of local, provincial, and federal workplace regulations, ordinances, and legislation.
  • Ability to speak Cree will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including report writing
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, professional demeanour and deportment
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions and respond to emergencies under pressure
  • Discretion when handling confidential and private information
  • Be able to work rotating shifts
